4 Of The Best Places To See Fall Foliage In The US

There’s nothing more exciting than planning a big trip away, is there? Once all the practical concerns have been sorted out, from arranging America travel insurance to booking flights and hotels, you can really sit down to the very serious business of deciding what you want to see and do while away.

Those of you planning a trip around the US over the next few weeks might want to put Fall Foliage at the top of your travel itinerary, as the leaves changing colour really is a sight to behold and America is one of the best places to go to see the summer give way to autumn. But where best to go? Here are just a couple of spots you can see some seriously beautiful autumnal leaves.

Aspen, Colorado

The leaves here turn a really stunning yellow colour at this time of year and you’ll come away with some incredible photos. You don’t have a huge amount of time to see them, however, since the season really starts in the middle of September and reaches its peak by the end of the month… so you’ve got about three weeks.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

This is a perennially popular place to visit but this time of year is an especially good one to plan a trip, since there are so many different species of native trees that all blend together to create a stunning sight of all sorts of different colours. You’ll be able to spot the likes of hickory, sweetgum, maple, scarlet oak and more - so make sure you pack your tree-spotting book.

The Smoky Mountains

Make your way to Tennessee and the Smoky Mountains and you’ll find some seriously amazing fall foliage to check out. Gatlinburg is a great town to stay in if you’re looking for a base from which to explore this part of the US countryside. Make your way to Clingman’s Dome for some absolutely incredible views of the treetops. You’ll never want to go home again.

The Adirondack Mountains

You’ll find the Adirondacks in New York, the perfect place to go if you’re looking to escape the buzz of the city for a while and get back to nature. If you have the time, walk 170 miles along the Olympic Trail to see some of the best examples of Fall Foliage that the US has to offer.

The leaves are at their best right now and will continue to show off until the first few weeks of October, so you’ve got plenty of time to go and have a look.

Whatever you do, don’t forget to sort out your travel insurance if you’re going to the US or anywhere else in the world. The last thing you want is to be caught out without it.
